AUBURN, N.Y. — Authorities are seeking the public’s help solving the theft of copper wire from a utility substation.
Auburn police said that on Thursday New York State Electric & Gas reported a forced entry and theft of copper wire from one of their substations at 344 State St., near the Auburn city line.
Police said the incident likely occurred between Monday and Thursday.
Someone damaged fencing to get onto the property and then stole copper wire. The total loss and property damage is estimated to exceed $1,000.
