Updated: Tuesday, May 5 2015, 05:35 PM EDT ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A program that gives young people a safe place to stay now includes every fire station in the City of Rochester. Project Safe Place is run through the Center For Youth. The city’s 15 fire stations are among the more than 300 Safe Place sites. Young people in need can access any Safe Place location at any time, day or night, and get help from trained professionals. This year alone, nine young people have utilized local safe place locations. “We have young people who are often in situations where they don’t know where to go; they need to find a place to go,” said Center For Youth Director Elaine Spaull. Safe Place locations are easy to find – just look for the yellow and black signs displayed in area businesses, grocery stores and RTS buses.
